Many
companies still use fax as their primary medium for sending
text and graphics to others, but with the Internet opening
up new avenues of message delivery it can appear old fashioned
and restrictive.
Email offers many advantages over fax, but those who use it
still find themselves being asked 'what is your fax number?'.
The problem has two possible solutions ...

- BUY A FAX MACHINE £120 will buy
a reasonable fax machine, but you may need to consider an additional
telephone line, which will have a monthly line rental attached.
You will also have to keep it on all the time ready to accept faxes,
which means you are open to the junk fax mailers who waste your
expensive fax paper and ink.

What
format are the faxes delivered in?
The incomming fax pages are in TIF format. They will arrive as an
attachment to an email. One TIF file will contain all of the faxed
pages.
My
computer can't view TIF files. Can you recommend a program?
There are many programs available, some free and some not so free
!
The one that we use and support is called 'IrfanView'
How
big are the TIF files?
Each fax page is on average 10 to 40kb depending on complexity of
the page and therefore downloading them should only be a matter
of seconds.
Can
the faxes be forwarded to another user by email?
Yep, because it's a standard email with an attacment, you can forward
to any other email address. Obviously the recipient will also need
a program to view multi-page TIF files. Infact this is a very good
way to send the fax on because it will not degrade the quality of
the fax image, whereas re-faxing it in the traditional way would
degrade the image quality.
Are
0870 numbers premium rate?
No, 0870 numbers are national rate numbers. Anyone sending faxes
to this number will be charged at BT's standard national rate -
it is NOT a premium rate number.
Can
this number be called from outside the UK?
Generally speaking, no, although we have heard that some international
carriers do allow calls to 0870 numbers from outside the UK. We
make no guarantees and you should consider this service for UK use
only.
I
am based outside the UK, can I use this service to give me a UK
fax number?
Yes, as long as you have an email address we can set-up this service
to provide your customers with a low-cost way to send you faxes
and avoid international call charges. Please note there is an additional
admin fee of £15 to accept payment from outside the UK.
Is
there a limit to how many faxes an be received?
We place absolutely NO LIMITS on the number of faxes that are sent
to your number.
How
long does the service take to set-up?
We can allocate a number and set-up your fax service within minutes!
New customers will be sent a pro-forma invoice before we allocate
your number.
Can
we use this service to send faxes?
No, this service is for inbound faxes only - it does not provide
you with a way to fax out from your PC.
